Use the matrix that applies to your product and diet
Phytase phosphorus equivalency varies with enzyme, dose, species, age, diet and the response criterion used. Enter a manufacturer, research, internal, or nutritionist-approved matrix rather than treating a generic value as universal.
How the replacement is calculated
A matrix credit of 0.15 percentage points equals 1.5 kg of phosphorus per metric tonne at 100% utilization. If the mineral source contains 21% phosphorus, the mathematical equivalent is about 7.14 kg of that source per metric tonne. The calculator also reports the calcium removed with that source so it is not mistaken for a complete reformulation.
Frequently asked questions
Does this calculator tell me how much phosphate I should remove?
No. It calculates nutrient equivalence from the assumptions entered. A qualified nutritionist or formulation optimizer should verify the complete diet.
Why include matrix utilization?
It allows sensitivity analysis without changing the source matrix. For example, a user can value 50% or 75% of an entered matrix while preserving the original reference value.
