Formula

Columns = ceil(Room Length × 12 ÷ Tile Length); Rows = ceil(Room Width × 12 ÷ Tile Width)

Worked example

A 12 ft by 10 ft room using 12 in square tiles lays out as 12 columns by 10 rows, or 120 grid positions.
